Missouri drug rehabs Cocaine and crack cocaine remain readily available throughout the St. Louis and Kansas City Metropolitan areas. There have been sporadic reports of a shortage of cocaine in Missouri, although there is no indication of a sustained shortage.

The emergence of the white heroin is believed to have led to an expansion of the heroin markets to more suburban and rural areas of eastern Missouri. White heroin purity varies from levels as low as 10-15%, to samples which have been tested at above 40% in purity. The availability of heroin in western Missouri remains very limited and the market continues to be dominated by Mexican black tar and powdered heroin.

Marijuana is readily available throughout the state of Missouri. Indoor marijuana operations continue to be found in the St. Louis and Kansas City areas, while outdoor grow operations are typically found in the rural parts of the state. The availability of higher purity “BC Bud” marijuana from Canada and the northwest United States has been increasing.

Methamphetamine continues to be identified as a significant problem in rural communities within the state.

Club drugs such as MDMA and GHB are widely available in all types of dance clubs in the major cities, and around college campuses throughout Missouri. MDMA also continues to be available in all regions of Missouri.

Current investigations indicate that diversion of hydrocodone and oxycodone products continue to be a problem in Missouri.

According to data from the National Survey on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH), approximately 385,000 of Missouri citizens over the age of 12 reported past month use of an illicit drug.

Additional survey results indicate that 130,000 Missouri citizens reported illicit drug dependence or abuse within the past year. Approximately 81,000 reported past year illicit drug dependence.

During 2006, there were 45,383 admissions to drug/alcohol treatment in Missouri. There were 43,649 such treatment admissions during 2005. In 2004, there were 39,466 admissions to drug/alcohol treatment in the state.

However, approximately 118,000 (2.45%) Missouri citizens reported needing but not receiving treatment for illicit drug use within the past year.
