Why Do People Become Addicted To Drugs?

Addiction – for most people, their idea of addiction is fueled by what they watch on television, what they read in newspapers, and what they learn in school. But for a growing amount of people their concept of addiction has become frighteningly real. They see first hand the lies, manipulation, desperation, loneliness, and pain that is addiction. Mexican Drug Trafficking Organizations Infiltrate The U.S.

Every year U.S. taxpayers pay billions of dollars in tax money that goes to funding state funded rehabilitation programs. Drug and alcohol addiction is one of the biggest problems that U.S. residents have to face, if only because of the monetary toll it takes on the community, not mention the families and friends who have lost a loved one because of their inability to overcome their addiction. What is the cause for this countrywide epidemic? Who is orchestrating the marketing of these drugs to our children? The answers (at least partially) can be found south of the border, Mexico.

Mexican Drug Trafficking Organizations have set up a billion dollar a year drug trade in the US. Mexican drug lords view America as a country full of potential and life long drug addicts. When several states in the US put restrictions on the amount of pseudoephedrine (a vital ingredient to making methamphetamine), Mexican DTOs set up meth “super labs”. Currently these organizations provide methamphetamine to the vast majority of the states across the US. California has admitted to having a huge heroin addiction problem – all the heroin found in the state of California comes from Mexico. These are just two examples of the amount of influence Mexican DTOs have over our country.

Good News for People Struggling with Drug Addiction

Drug addiction currently affects more than 22 million people in the United States. In Louisiana alone more than 3% of the population have reported use of an illicit drug over a one month period. This is according to the White House Drug Policy who also reports that the majority of drug abusers in the state have reported needing but not receiving drug treatment in Louisiana.

Narconon Louisiana, a non-profit drug and alcohol rehabilitation facility opened its doors in 2006 as a resource for locals struggling with addiction. In an area that had seen some of the worst devastation in years after Hurricane Katrina, there was no real solution in place for drug use in the state. After four years in operation, over 150 graduates, Narconon Louisiana has maintained that the people of Louisiana do not have to suffer from addiction without a real solution for permanent recovery.

The first part of the Narconon drug rehab program is the New Life Detoxification program. Drugs and Promiscuity Contribute to Declining Morals in Society

While the amount of people addicted to drugs and alcohol is increasing it’s not surprising that the moral standards of society have suffered.

The connection between drug and alcohol abuse and promiscuity is nothing new. In fact, according to a recent study, researchers at Columbia University have made a connection between illegal drug use and promiscuity. Although this may not come as a surprise to most, what is alarming is that teens who are 14 years or younger that use alcohol are twice as likely to have sex than those who aren’t drinking.

Narconon Louisiana Makes Significant Gains In The War On Drugs

2009 was definitely a year impacted by the horrifying side effects of illegal drugs. The reach of drugs and alcohol have spread from the silver screen with deaths like Michael Jackson and Adam “DJ AM” Goldstein to our own homes where approximately 300,000 people died from illegal drugs this year.
